Homestyle Foods was conceived in a classroom May 2005 at Nelson College by eight students as part of the Young Enterprise Scheme. We started out with a vision of providing quality Chutneys, Relishes, Jams and other Preserves using local produce and homemade techniques. We began selling at the Nelson Market, Nelson farmers market and local annual fairs.
By May 2006 there was such an increase in demand that Homestyle Foods was sold to one of the founding eight and shifted its production to its own premises in Richmond Nelson. In mid 2007 we opened our factory shop and began following the Dunkleys Great New Zealand Craft shows from Auckland to Invercargill.
2009 has been a year of changes for Homestyle Foods with The Shortbread House moving into our factory and shop, and the addition of a new sales manager, taking our staff to five. We still follow the same vision that we began with by using 96% New Zealand grown produce and still making small batches for full flavour, quality products. We look forward a year of exciting changes and your continued support.
